I've been a teacher for the past 17 years. Five in a basic bilingual 1st grade. 2 in an SEI 2nd grade, as well as 1 in a Dual Immersion Kinder and now First. I've also worked as an English Learner Coordinator but now I am happy to be back in the classroom.
Dual Immersion is a waivered program where English speaking students and Spanish speaking English learners are in the same classroom learning how to read and write in both English and Spanish. Our students are bilingual and biliterate by the time they are in 5th grade. Dual Immersion Enthusiast is me!
We have started our unit on Small Moments. I started by making this chart to help my students get started on what to write about. I saw it in English during my training at Teachers College at Columbia University. This is what my team partner and I came up with as the Spanish version. (I did add a drawing of our writing paper next to step 3..but it was added after I took the picture.) Hope this helps.
